"View of Delft" (orig. title: "Gezicht op Delft"), ca.1660

by Johannes Vermeer - a restoration sample

A fragment of the painting with the city port fortress and one of the boats is shown here, to demonstrate the effect of restoration. Since this particular work of the painter didn't suffer any significant damage induced by the passed time, the restoration work was performed mainly to compensate for the lost detail in its digital copy, via introducing of subtle strands of paint into the texture, and giving it somewhat "sandy" look by using a specially-designed "stardust" virtual brush.
